Summit: What To Know Before You Go
Capitol Hill can be a confusing place. Where do I go? Who do I need to see? What's my message?
The 2015 National Bike Summit is the largest annual gathering of bike advocates -- and it's the time of year when we share our message with congressional leaders and staff. Face-to-face meetings are hugely important, and we know they work.
If you're headed to the Summit and are looking to learn more of the basics, or even a refresher, we're holding two webinars on "what to know before you go."
The first session, to be held Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. EST, focuses on the process. We'll give you the A-Z on Congressional meetings, including who's handling scheduling, the logistics of Capitol Hill, and how a quick five minutes of research can make all the difference in getting your message across. This session will cover the process of preparing for and conducting a successful meeting. Join this session to learn how to play - and win! Register here.
The second, to be held Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. EST, is focused on policy. We'll discuss the overall fiscal environment and offer some insights into effective messages for these challenging times. Legislators and their staff will listen, but only if you're speaking their language. You can advocate effectively for bicycle-friendly policies, even in this increasingly partisan, post MAP-21 world.
