Automated Vehicle Twitter Chat

In response to an automated Uber vehicle killing 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg while she was pushing a bicycle across the street, the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) held a twitter chat (#apbpchat) last week. The chat featured panelists from the 2018 National Bike Summit including Ngani Ndimbie (@nganisays) and Eric Boerer (@BikePGH). Through ten questions – and many answers – the members of @apbp sought to create a constructive dialogue about how automated vehicles will impact people who bike and walk and what we should be thinking about as automated vehicles become more commonplace.

It was great to participate in as @kenmcld and I hope that this twitter stream may be helpful if you have questions about automated vehicles. For all of the promises that automated vehicles will lead to safer roads there is a need for much more information about how that promise will be fulfilled.
