Our Programs

The League has been working for better cycling in America since 1880. We do this by promoting bicycling, educating cyclists and motorists, and advocating on behalf of cyclists on Capitol Hill and with state legislators across the United States.

Our Bicycle Friendly America program provides incentives, hands-on assistance, and award recognition for communities, universities and businesses that actively support bicycling, and ranks states annually based on their level of bike-friendliness.

National Bike Month is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2006, and this program continues to grow in relevance and success.

The Safe Routes to School program, which helps children walk and bike to school, was given funding by the U.S. government that will help strengthen it nationwide.

The League's BikeEd program continues to reach thousands of cyclists each year, through our training courses and our hundreds of certified League Cycling Instructors.

The National Bike Summit, the cornerstone of our advocacy program, takes place each March. In addition, we meet regularly with city, state and federal legislators to speak up about the importance of bicyclists to America.

The League's Share the Road campaign, launched in 2006, is working to speak up for bicyclists and against harassment, injury and more.
