Encouragement: The city just reprinted the bike map, and offers an extensive Safe Routes to School program, well-attended Bike to Work Week, Critical Mass rides, weekly Midnight Bike Rides, Biketoberfest, Tour de Farce, IMBA trail training, regular city staff led tours of bike facilities, bike-in movies, and regular Road 1 classes. Engineering: Milwaukee recently completed a “maruspial bridge,” which is an architecturally significant multi-million dollar bike/pedestrian bridge suspended from an existing bridge. The city also just striped 27 miles of new bike lanes and added a core trail (MUP) through the center of the city.
