Bicycle Friendly CommunityAda County Highway District, ID | Bronze Level
Engineering: In a six-year period, Ada County Highway District doubled bikeway miles on its roadway system. Citizens in Ada County have more bicycling options thanks to the area’s bike inclusion policies and work plan processes. Ada County Highway District Development Policies mandate bikeway accommodation in all new development and redevelopment projects. Hence, bikeways get the full planning and engineering review along with motorized vehicle reviews. New roads, bridges, housing developments, employment centers, parks and other real estate developments are required to include bikeways. Cars and bikes get equal planning, programming and funding emphasis. Ada County Highway District also plans, programs and funds all bikeways and bike-related projects on the roadway network for the entire county plus six cities within the Metropolitan Area. Therefore, all seven jurisdictions have uniform bikeway planning, programming and funding implementation. . |
