Moving Beyond Platinum - Diamond

Ten years ago the League got a panel of experts together to completely overhaul and improve the Bicycle Friendly Community program. Since then we have seen incredible results from communities who have made biking a safe and convenient option for people to get to where they want to go. In response to all of the great work being done in the top Bicycle Friendly Communities, the League is thrilled to announce a higher standard beyond Platinum - Diamond.

BFCs poised to move beyond Platinum will start by receiving a detailed audit and customized goal assessment that includes quantitative measures like usage, land use and crashes as well as qualitative analysis of things from the network to bike culture. The League will look at how advocacy groups and cities are working together and how inter-departmental and inter-agency collaboration is going within the community. The League will measure a community’s use of innovative solutions to challenges for bicycling. Moving Beyond Platinum to Diamond BFC designation will be a individualized challenge for communities.
