Bicycle Friendly UniversityUniversity of Miami| Bronze Level
Highlights: The University of Miami was a title sponsor of Coral Gables Bike Day in 2011. The University had two booths; one with general campus information and a second run by BikeSafe. The BikeSafe booth provided safety classes during the event and gave out free helmets. Most Significant Recent Accomplishment: The University offers a free 2 hour program for bicyclists that provide riders with safety skills and information on bicycling as a transportation alternative and recreation activity. Most Compelling Fact: The UBike program launched in 2008 has made critical steps in promoting and supporting the bicycling culture on campus and in nearby communities. In the last three years the university purchased 965 bicycles which were subsidized in order to encourage biking. |
