Bicycle Friendly BusinessWheel & Sprocket | Gold Level
Business Highlights: Cycling is made so attractive at Wheel & Sprocket that 1/3 of employees commute to work and nearly 90 percent are involved in cycling outside of work. The office provides bike lockers, a shower, bicycle repair station, maintenance supplies, dedicated bike maintenance person and a volunteer bike coordinator. The business also helped the County Transit promote its new Racks on Bus program by advertising it in the community, on their website, e-blast and in-store signage. Store managers attend community meetings regarding path/lane construction and attended the 1st Bike Summit in Madison. They've also encouraged and advised schools, area businesses and local government to participate in Safe Routes to School. During National Bike Month, Wheel & Sprocket arranges social rides, hosts clinics, distributes bicycling information, and sponsors a community ride. Employees are reimbursed $1 per mile ridden when commuting to work during this month. The business provides bike safety and maintenance materials and classes as well as information on-line throughout the year. Most Compelling Recent Bike Related Accomplishment: |
