Business Highlights: Trek Bicycle Corporation does whatever it can to get employees to ride to work—they offer a company bike fleet, reimbursements for commuters, commuting competitions and educational clinics. The company organizes group rides and also helps employees find the best route from their house to work. Trek offers a covered and protected bike storage facility, showers, trainers for winter months as well as a bike maintenance station with a dedicated, knowledgeable assistant and set of supplies. Trek has a number of programs and competitions to incentivize employees to ride to work. The ‘Go By Bike League: Team Challenge’ entails 10 person teams that compete for prizes through their collective number of miles commuted by bike. Trek’s CEO and senior management also participate in the challenge. Trek Bike to Work Day includes breakfast for commuters and participation in the commuter challenge with prizes. A third commuter program grants employees that complete a monthly commuter log, dollars that can be used in the café or to purchase products. The Company hosts and sponsors the Trek 100 annual bike ride as well as the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival. Trek also works with local government and advocacy groups to improve conditions for bicyclists. They sponsor the B-Cycle bike share program and Dream Bikes, a non-profit bike shop which makes bikes and accessories affordable to youth.
