Business Highlights: Employees at The Bike Lane have a sincere passion for cycling that creates a positive work environment and generates an enthusiasm that spreads to customers. Their LEED Certified store offers amenities including a shower and lockers for employees. The Bike Lane advocates for trails and safe routes through their very active social media outlets as well as events. Employees spend much of their time on bicycle advocacy, volunteerism, in-kind donations and hosting charity rides.  They also organize an annual "Cyclefest" event, to celebrate cycling through education, bicycle demos, and various cycling seminars.  The Bike Lane has worked with the Washington Area Bicycle Association, the Fairfax Advocates for Better Bicycling and has attended the National Bike Summit for the last six years. The Bike Lane sponsors and supports three Bike to Work "Pit Stop" locations a day celebrated with participation in a commuter challenge with prizes. They have their own adult and junior team that requires not only race hours but community volunteer hours (trail work, leading rides and clinics, etc). They are a top sponsor of the largest mountain bike club in the area and Trips for Kids Metro DC. The Bike Lane's involvement in the local mountain bike club has helped leverage support from the local government and national organizations for fundraising for new trails and increased accessibility.  They also support and sponsor more than 50 races, charity rides, rodeos, and community cycling events throughout the year.

Most Compelling Bicycle Related Statistic: The Bike Lane holds an annual ‘Toys for Tots’ Bike Fundraiser. Over the last 4 years they have collected enough funds to purchase and donate more than 150 bikes and helmets to the Marine Corps Toys (Bikes) for Tots Drive. Ninety percent of the staff commutes by bike.
