Business Highlights: Specialized Bicycle Components has effectively balanced working with the bicycling community on the local level as well as on a national and global scale.  The company celebrates and promotes Bike to Work Day with a breakfast for bicyclists, participation in a commuter challenge, prizes, and a president-led ride.  The office contains a “village bike shop” where employees can work with a dedicated bike maintenance person and supplies to make bike repairs.  Commuters can also park their bike in a covered, secure bike parking area, where the number of bike parking spots outnumbers those for cars. The company offers maintenance and safe riding classes for employees.  Commuting to the office is also made easier by the office’s series of bicycle friendly access roads and placement within a bike route system.  For employees that don’t have their own bike, there is a company fleet of over 25 bikes to borrow.  Specialized sponsors a bike team, individual riders, a high school mountain bike league, in addition to having their own employee bike club.  With their $1.4 million dollar global advocacy budget, Specialized Bicycle Components is able to spread bicycling to communities around the world.

Most Compelling Recent Bike Related Accomplishment: Specialized's President, Mike Sinyard, leads the 660 mile 'Ride to Vegas’ in support of Susan G Komen for the Cure to aid the fight for breast cancer.  Since this partnership began 3 years ago, Specialized has donated over $800,000 to the cause.
