Business Highlights: Southcentral Foundation’s Wellness Committee offers educational opportunities such as bike clinics and sponsors events such as a charity ride every May. In 2010, for the first time, the SCF Employee Wellness event was opened up to employees of neighboring organizations as well. Southcentral offers bike racks next to every SCF building on the Alaska Native Health Campus, and has invested over $15,000 in the new secure bike cage that is being installed in the SCF parking garage. The office also has a shower and locker room. As part of the 2010 Bike to Work Day, SCF organized a Bike Buddy program, where experienced bicycle commuters met at 5 locations around Anchorage to ride in with less confident riders. Southcentral Foundation has posted a map of local bike trails and popular routes on its employee Intranet. Additionally, reminders for drivers and bikers are sent out prior to the event to improve safety precautions associated with sharing the roads.

Most Compelling Bicycle Related Accomplishment: With over 300 employees in attendance, Southcentral sponsored the largest community Bike to Work Day event in Anchorage. It included a Biker Appreciation Breakfast, Bike Blessing and an afternoon bash with live music and family entertainment. They organize bike clinics throughout Bike Month. Southcentral continued to host bike refreshment stations on Fridays throughout the summer of 2010.
