Bicycle Friendly Business

Schreiber Anderson Associates| Bronze Level

Business Highlights: All SAA employees own a bicycle with about 10 percent riding to work regularly year round and 25 percent riding regularly during good weather. Employees can choose from a variety of parking options when they arrive at SAA including two enclosed bike lockers, and an arrangement of unique bicycle racks located right next to the employee entrance. Another incentive for active transportation are the showers located onsite, and regular treat days that keep the riders fueled. Lunch rides during the summer are common and annually employees participate in a company “Tin Man Ride” – which includes one lap around the Madison Iron Man bicycling route. Staff includes a League Cycling Instructor and lessons on bicycle safety are a regular occurrence during Bike to Work Week.

"Our best days are when we actually get to ride new facilities we helped design with the local champions who continue to make Wisconsin an exceptional place to ride a bike, even in the winter!" - Reed Dunbar, Project Manager

Most Compelling Statistic Regarding Bicycling: Seventeen of 24 employees participated in Bike to Work Week 2008. Previous years show similar numbers, SAA won a citywide award in 2006 for highest percentage of participation according to Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin's "effort index".
