Business Highlights: RCI is active in the local bicycle community, participating in local area events and right-of-way legislation. RCI participated at the community bicycle summit, advocating for a 'Complete Streets' legislation draft and is creating a charity ride to support a local nonprofit. RCI supports Bike to Work Month by organizing a commuter challenge, prizes, a breakfast for commuters, maintenance clinics and distributing bicycling information. They offer safe riding, maintenance and driver safety classes. They also promote employee bicycle participation and safety awareness. Employees are encouraged to bike to work with the availability of a locker room, shower, a dedicated bike maintenance person and cash incentives for bicycle commuters. All employees who ride receive free company bicycle t-shirts and subsidized company sponsored cycling jerseys. RCI hosts free lunch & learns to get employees safely and confidently to work. The employee bike club organizes groups to commute in together from central meeting places. Bicycling information is distributed through an employee electronic newsletter, bicycling handouts and brochures in the front lobby. RCI established a bicycle captain as a main coordinator to provide bicycle routes, information on proper riding equipment, and encouragement to participate in bicycle-related events. RCI has benefited from their employees bicycling by observing first hand that biking creates healthier employees who then miss less work, are more productive and have lower healthcare costs.

Most Compelling Bike Related Investment: RCI recently purchased two large bike parking, 'toast' racks are locked together with overhead lighting. The racks also include security and monitoring devices, providing employees a safe place to lock their bikes.
