Business Highlights: Cycling has become part of the corporate culture at the PayPal Omaha, Nebraska location. Their internal cycling group has multiple people involved at the club or city level that continually present ideas to increase the level of participation. Bike commuting has quickly spread with the incorporation of the commuter tax benefit, safe riding and maintenance classes and participation in the commuter challenge.  The company has raffled off two bicycles this year, and roughly $500 in prizes to those who have commuted by bike.  The money that was raised from the raffle was invested in more bike supplies.  They distribute weekly prizes and raffle tickets during the commuter challenge and cycling jerseys at the end of the challenge.  Once bike commuters arrive at the office, they can park their bikes in covered, secure parking and have access to shower and locker room facilities.  A supply of maintenance tools and literature such as maps, commuting brochures and gear catalogs help keep commuters well-informed and safe.  Experienced cyclists work with those new to bicycle commuting, assisting with trail/route selection, and general bike questions about maintenance and safety. PayPal is heavily involved in Omaha’s local bicycle advocate agencies. PayPal Omaha's group has made themselves available to other organizations to discuss commuting, route selection, and the Bike Commuter Tax - to make Omaha a more bike-friendly community.  

Most Compelling Bike Related Accomplishment: The PayPal Omaha office alone cycled over 5000 miles last summer, with plans to raise that to 6000 this summer.

Most Compelling Bike Related Statistic: EBay, Inc & PayPal, Inc have an ambitious goal to reduce emissions by 15 percent by 2012. Getting cars off the road and encouraging bike commuters is an essential step towards that.
