Bicycle Friendly Business

International Business Machines - IBM Rochester, MN | Bronze Level

Business HighlightsIBM Rochester has 3.7 miles of paved bike trails on their property tying it to the local bike routes within the city and also to the State trail, yet this is not enough for the Bicycle Friendly Business. They continue to work with the City to improve the connections of routes, while also offering generous local and state bike advocacy support. There are on site showers and lockers, annual bike education classes, and a Bike to Work Day breakfast for commuters. All 31 buildings have convenient bike parking.

Most Compelling Bike Related Accomplishment: When the IBM Rochester site was developed more than 50 years ago, it was a green field development. Since then, the city of Rochester, MN, has grown to encompass the facility. Site planners, in conjunction with city/county staff, have ensured accessibility via bicycling and walking.

Benefits from Being a Bike Friendly BusinessThe most positive impact on IBM's support for cycling has been improved employee morale.
