Bicycle Friendly BusinessFresh Energy| Bronze Level
Business Highlights: Fresh Energy has influenced transportation policy on a national level as well as amongst the bicycling community of St. Paul. Fresh Energy encourages biking amongst its own employees by compensating those who bike or walk to work $20 a month. For Bike to Work Month, the organization participates in a commuter challenge, offering cyclists breakfast and a CEO led group ride. In exchange for a donation to the organization, employees and their significant others can get a free bike tune-up. They also pushed their building owner to double the amount of bicycle parking in the covered area after reaching the capacity of the existing racks. Experienced commuters show new riders a safe route to and from the office as well as counsel them on a dependable biking and equipment. There are also organized rides for cyclists of all levels to join. The office is easily reached by bike, located directly on a trail and adjacent to streets with bike lanes. Fresh Energy has also been a sponsor of the Green Bike Tour, a bicycle tour of clean energy solutions throughout the Midwest, promoting bicycling as a non-polluting vacation as well as a commuting option. |
