Business Highlights: Birchwood cafe is easily accessible by bike, as it is 3 blocks from two major bike thoroughfares. Birchwood Café promotes Bike to Work Day by providing commuters with breakfast and prizes. Current office expansion plans include more bike parking, a Dero Bike Rack "fixit" station, an employee shower/changing area, an air pump station and outdoor and water access for patrons to fill up their water bottles. They work closely with another BFB, Peace Coffee, to promote bicycle-related events and have their coffee delivered by bike. They sponsor ads & distribute NICE RIDE, greenway and bike trail maps to employees and customers. They co hosted a farm to table dinner, Tour de Farm, this August with a fully supported bike ride to the farm. They also host and sponsor the Bell's Brews Cruise, the Tour de Fat and the New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride. They show live coverage of the Tour de France each year with a special themed menu. They have a bike team of over 100 that offers clinics on maintenance and bike safety and riding skills, as well as club rides. They are a Minnesota Cycling Federation sanctioned racing team that sponsors a race each year. They host weekly women's ride for women new to road biking and non-member weekly coffee rides each Sunday. Birchwood encourages customers to connect with their bike team and the biking community and make the connection between supporting local and sustainably grown foods and biking.

Most Compelling Bike Related Accomplishment: Birchwood Cafe is a key sponsor and was a key supporter in bringing Nice Ride public bike share to Minneapolis; they have a Nice Rice kiosk right out our front door. Birchwood Cafe will be the first business in Minneapolis to install designated on street bicycle parking.
