Bicycle Friendly BusinessBerghammer Construction| Bronze Level
Business Highlights: At Berghammer Construction, the bicycle culture started at the top and has trickled down. All three ownership partners bought into the concept and participate. The company now has an employee bike club that organizes rides and also teaches new riders bike safety and helps them find safe routes to work and upcoming bike events. The company has invested in 5 station CompuTrainers within the building, where employees can reserve times through a website. Bike commuters also have access to a fleet of community bikes and a bike repair station with supplies. Corporately, Berghammer supports cycling events outside of the company as well as creating their own. Berghammer advocates for bike issues through the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin and pays entry fees for local charity events. Employees volunteer to work at charity rides, providing physical and financial support and helping with route planning. Berghammer has given $2,000 of annual sponsorship to the Eppstein Uhen Architects Beyond Design Tour for four consecutive years. With the notable increase in bike commuting, there has also been a visible promotion of employee health and camaraderie. |
