The position is responsible for providing strategic planning and direction, technical expertise and project management in the development and implementation of bicycle and pedestrian programs throughout the City of Durham and the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro (DCHC) Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Utah Group Focuses on BikeEd

The Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective is creating excellent cyclists in Utah. They received a grant from the state to deliver BikeEd classes in the Salt Lake City region. They held a League Cycling Instructor seminar in June where 11 new LCIs were certified. Now they are working on what must be a record for the number of BikeEd classes in a three month period with an average of two per week. Road I classes are offered on the second and fourth Saturdays of August and September, with additional classes on Wednesday evenings. Click here to sign up.

Two New Bike Racks for Buses

Sportworks is introducing two new racks for buses this fall, the two-bike VeloPorter2 and three-bike VeloPorter3. The racks, part of Sportworks Bike-Rack-for-Buses series, feature replaceable parts, energy-absorbing wheel trays, and backwards compatibility. Both racks will be available in fall 2006.

Boston Bike Social on Friday, August 18

MassBike and the League of American Bicyclists are hosting a Bike-Commuting Social on Friday, August 18, 6-8 p.m., at Landry's Bicycles in Boston. Join fellow cyclists for a lively discussion on national bicycling trends and local bike-commuting issues in the Boston area. Andy Clarke, League of American Bicyclists executive director and bike-commuting connoisseur, will present the discussion. Complimentary refreshments will be available. We’re throwing our doors open at the League’s World Headquarters, Tuesday, August 15 to celebrate a number of things, so if you are in the area, come on down.
