League Updates

• Recently (re)elected board members: Region 1, John Allen; Region 4, Jim Sheehan; Region 6, Amanda Eichstaedt
• Newly appointed officers: President, Amanda Eichstaedt (Region 6); Vice President, Don Sparks (Region 3); Secretary, Ellen Jones (Region 2); Treasurer, Paul Wessel (VA).
• League Open House, 1612 K Street, Suite 800 in Washington, DC on Tuesday, August 15 at 4-8pm
• Members meeting in Boston, Friday August 18 at Landry’s, Boston

Club Census

Soliciting input into the information clubs would find it useful to know about each other. Will be conducting a club census/survey in the next few weeks – your responses will be really helpful to clubs across the country. Many suggestions including
• Legal and tax status
• Membership numbers and trends
• Demographics
• Level of participation in advocacy, charity rides and events
• Ride schedule

Share the Road

• Discussed different “Share the Road” messages and applications of the message. HBBCA has alternative bumper sticker suggestion.
• Discussion of helmet give-aways included recommendation for www.helmetsrus.net as a good source of decent, inexpensive helmets.
• Discussion of ride leader training and promotion: how do clubs reward/recognize rider leaders? Some offer free training (e.g. Road One, CanBikeII)

League Club Program Updates

• Latest issue of Cue Sheet on-line and in the mail (http://www.bikeleague.org/members/club/Cue_Sheet_July_2006.pdf)
• Insurance certificates for rides now available on-line (http://www.bikeleague.org/members/club/pdfs/2006_Club_Enrollment_Form.pdf)
• Exploring reintroduction of 100% League Member clubs – members can join the local club and the League at the same time. Pilot test with the Austin Cycling Association and Boca Raton Bicycle Club.
