#BikeChat: Bicycle Friendly Communities

This Friday during our weekly Twitter chat, #BikeChat, we asked the question, “What does a Bicycle Friendly Community look like to you?”

Bicycle Friendly Communities come in all shapes and sizes. In one you might ride past a dairy farm, with nothing but green ahead of you, and in the next you might be stopping at a bike-specific red light within a two-way cycle track on a busy city block. We work with community leaders in neighborhoods big or small, sprawling or compact, densely or sparsely populated, and everything in between.

And it’s working: The network of communities in the program has grown every year, and we’re seeing more interest than ever from places all over the United States.

While much progress has been made in the decade or so we’ve been running this program, we know there is still so much work to be done. There are ideas and innovations we’ve never begun dreaming up. So we turned to you all on Twitter to learn more — check it out below! And tune in to #bikechat  every Friday at 2 p.m. EST!
