BFB Spotlight: PayPal

PayPal has plenty of accolades: It’s one of the largest internet money transfer services, it’s got hundreds of millions of registered users and operations in many countries throughout the world.

The latest? It’s a Gold Bicycle Friendly Business! (Read more about our latest round of Bicycle Friendly Business awardees here.)

It’s La Vista, Nebraska, operations center — one of two main operations facilities in the United States — has earned the title, leading by example in a state that has not had the best record with regard to supporting and encouraging bicycling. PayPal’s La Vista office is a shining example: They have a bike share system on campus, they financially support bike-centered non-profit organizations and their programs and encourage employees to ride to work.

“PayPal is very excited to receive the League of American Bicyclists Bicycle Friendly Business Gold Designation this year,” said Benny Foltz, PayPal Enterprise Solutions Account Manager. “We have added multiple amenities to our campus including two bike work stands and a PayPal Bike Share program. We continue to participate in two annual rides that benefit non-profits as well as have a workplace team in the National Bike Challenge. In a state that is not ranked for very high for being bicycle friendly, we are proud to help pave the way for other Nebraska businesses and look forward to an increased ridership across the state and country.”

Paypal funded a grant for Ohama’s B-Cycle Bike Share program to receive more bicycles, and they gave a grant to Community Bike Project Ohama to support its Youth Earn-A-Bike program.
