BikeEd 2007: Call for Papers

The League of American Bicyclists is pleased to be convening the fourth BikeEd Conference in Austin, Texas, June 14-16, 2007. As in past years, the event will include a number of educational and networking sessions on bicycling education.

We request all interested parties in the bicycling community to assist in the development of topics through a “call for papers/presentations.” We hope that you will be able to help us identify the critical issues currently facing the bicycling community.

There will be several opportunities to integrate selected papers/presentation ideas into the Conference. Paper/Presentation ideas include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Marketing and promoting bicycling education
  • Bringing BikeEd to clubs, charity rides and the workplace
  • Education as a key to making a Bicycle Friendly Community
  • School based bicycling education – Safe Routes to School
  • BikeEd in Bike Shops – Better cyclists and customers
  • BikeEd for traffic engineers and planners
  • Teaching diverse audiences
  • Multi-lingual education
  • BikeEd for Women

All presentation proposals should include the following elements:

  • 150+ word abstract (no more than 3 pages)
  • One to two page outline of the presentation / session being proposed
  • Contact information for the individual proposing the session
  • What attendees might expect to learn / take home from the session
  • Proposed speakers
  • Other supporting materials
  • Format for presentation and any a/v requirements

Presentations that are selected for inclusion in the BikeEd Conference program will be notified by April 30, 2007. All presentations will take place on June 15 or 16.
