Smart Cycling - Traffic Skills 101

Description: "Traffic Skills 101" -- The League's basic course in bicycle handling, traffic safety, and hazard avoidance. (Formerly called "Road I.") Meets Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. and last to approximately 4:30 p.m. This class covers the basics for skilled and enjoyable cycling, including riding in the Hot Springs metropolitan area, necessary equipment, crash avoidance, and your legal rights and responsibilities. The afternoon session will be on the bikes, first in a parking lot and then moving to the streets. We will be learning and practicing basic bike handling and some emergency maneuvers. We will also ride in a variety of downtown traffic conditions to practice and demonstrate your knowledge and performance of vehicular cycling skills. This session includes a written multiple choice test and a riding skills evaluation. You will need to show up with a bike helmet that fits and a bike that fits and is in good working order.
