Confident City CyclingDate: Saturday Description: Content: Laws affecting bicycles, the importance of visibility and predictability, lane positioning, intersection safety, interacting with pedestrians, trail etiquette, bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat, on-bike skills, crash avoidance techniques, basic bicycling gear, and much more! Audience: People interested in bicycle commuting, recreational cycling, or occasional riding on city or suburban streets or trails. This class is suitable for current bicycle commuters who want to enhance their skills and knowledge of the rules of the road, as well as those who have not ridden a bicycle for a long time and are interested in getting back into it. In order to participate in the road ride (cited by students as the most useful part of the class), you will need to be in physical condition to ride for 30-45 minutes. Prices: If you are a Downtown or Midtown commuter, you are eligible for the reduced rate of $10 (supported by the Downtown TMA and Midtown Alliance). Our trained instructors could charge $50 per person for this class, but they choose to work with us so we can offer the class for much less, and your local Transportation Management Associations subsidize the cost for those in their activity centers to bring the cost down even further. In addition, if you have recently lost your job, you can take the class for free, courtesy of your Atlanta Bicycle Coalition. Just contact us (bikeclass@atlantabike.org or 404-881-1112) and we'll get you signed up.
