Safe Cycling (Road I) at The Trek Bicycle Store, Schererville, INDate: Thursday, May 15, Thursday May 22, Saturday May 24 Description: The Trek Bicycle Store in Schererville, IN will host The League of American Bicyclists Adult Safe Cycling Course (Road I) . Experience the enjoyment of bicycling for fun and exercise. Preserve the environment and save money by running errands by bike rather than by car. Whether you are a beginning cyclist, an experienced cyclist, or are returning to cycling after years away from it, you will find something useful for you in the Safe Cycling course. The course will help you to refine and refresh your cycling skills, and to ride your bike confidently and safely for transportation, fitness, and recreation, in traffic and on trails. Learn to be visible and predictable, to ride between and through intersections, to ride in groups, and to avoid crashes. The course covers bicycle safety checks, fixing flats, essential on-bike handling skills, traffic cycling skills, and crash avoidance techniques. A student manual is included. The course consists of 3 classes.
A bicycle and helmet are required for all three classes. Successful completion of all three classes earns a Certificate of Completion for the League of American Bicyclists Road 1 Course. Classes 1 and 2 will be held at the Trek Bicycle Store. Part of each class will be held outside, on bikes. Class 3 will be held entirely outside, on bikes, at a Crown Point, IN location to be announced later. The class involves parking lot drills and a ride on local roads. Participants must bring their own bikes and helmets for class #3. Pricing for the course is:
