Westside "Ride of Silence" (tm)

Description: This somber event was established in 2003 when one bicyclists chose to honor a fallen comrade by asking other friends to ride in a funeral procession past the place he was killed. Over 1000 showed up. 5 years later, the ride has gained momentum on its own and now is held in hundreds of locations on every continent on the globe! see www(dot)rideofsilence(dot)org for history and other details There are two routes planned, the 6 mile route will feature ghost bikes in places geographically representative of the sites people were killed, while the longer ride will be no-host and have ghost bikes at the actual locations where people where struck down while doing what they loved. Riders are required to maintain silence as best they can and maintain a maximum speed of 12 MPH.
