State Bike Laws CenterWelcome to the League of American Bicyclists' state bike laws center. Bicyclists enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as motorists, or are considered vehicles in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Click on any state on the map, and you will find:
For every state, there is a searchable legal code where you can find the laws that affect bicylists. Additionally, for many of the states you will find the text or the summary of the relavant bicycle laws. After you find out what the state's bike laws are, browse through the driver’s manual and see what education motorists receive on the rights of cyclists. The League's Advocacy Center has a state-specific hub where you can follow your state's legislation, and contact your state legislators and even your mayor. Each state also has a listed Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator who oversees state bicycle programs and policies. If there is an online state bike map, there is a link to that as well. If you identify any errors or omissions, email the League at bikeleague@bikeleague.org. |
Take Action
