Obama Administration’s Livable Communities Initiative (6.16.09) U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan, and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson announced an interagency Partnership for Sustainable Communities to help improve access to affordable housing, more transportation options, and lower transportation costs while protecting the environment in communities nationwide. Proposal to End Federal Funding for Bike Projects (6.05.09) Representatives John Boehner (R-OH) and Eric Cantor (R-VA) propose putting a stop to Federal funding for bicycle projects and programs. In a letter to President Obama, the two leading House Republicans proposed cutting all funding for Transportation Enhancements, Safe Routes to Schools and Nonmotorized pilot programs in the President’s budget.
